Dia de la Independencia

On 16th September 1810, Mexico became a free nation and since then started celebrating this festival of Dia de la Independecia. Mexico is a country with various vivid festivals and celebrations, each with its specific reason. There are numerous festivals celebrated in Mexico depending upon the Mexican culture and sacred holiness with festive parade as well as beautiful fireworks. On the early morning of 16th September 1810, Father Hidalgo called the Mexicans to fight for their liberty. This story is now re-enacted on that day in almost every plaza or zocalo of Mexico. Dia de la Independencia of Mexico i.e. the Independence day celebrations starts on the eve of 16th September along with the El Grito Celebration, which is the annual tradition of Mexico.

For the celebration of independence, Mexicans wave flags, put up lighted decorations and all-aged people join the biggest fiesta of Mexico. On the Mexican Independence day, the city’s buildings, houses, streets are beautifully decorated with flags and other decorations. There are even food stands that serve the traditional cuisine of Mexico and also ample of party food. Food served on a major quantity includes finger foods, Mexican sweets and ponche which are made from the seasonal foods. On the Independence Day, Mexico has air of merriment, pleasant atmosphere and festival fever everywhere. People are mostly dressed in a traditional way of Mexico and those who are not interested in traditional costumes prefer red, green and white colored clothes which are actually the colors of the Mexican flag.

The high point of the ceremony is when the Mexican crowd shouts out the names of their independence heroes. The ceremony ends with the electrifying VIVA Mexico when the multicolored rockets light up the sky showering the pride of independent and free nation of Mexico. This day of the Mexican spirit and pride is truly a worth experience for the Mexicans!
